Developed by the Pullman-Standard company in the 1940’s the PS-2 hopper offered a new method of hauling bulk commodities. The covered hoppers allowed goods such as sand, cement, and grain to be transported without the limitations that boxcars had previously presented. These cars can be found in service in nearly every decade since their inception. The original PS-2’s utilized 50T U-Frame Bettendorf trucks, cars utilized later in life were upgraded to more modern 70 Ton roller bearing trucks. Despatch Railroad products offers both a two and three bay version of the iconic PS-2 covered hopper.
Features:
Solid steel construction. Cast aluminum and zinc detail parts provide a rugged car that will last for years. Steel end cages provides excellent detail and can withstand accidental bumps.
Hardware Included:
This kit contains all detail components including: grab irons, ladders, brake platform, AB Brake castings, Ajax brake housing/wheel, glad hands and angle cocks.
